Makeovers Come to Park City
Just in time for the holidays and by popular demand, KMSKIN is now offering a new service called, Play-It-Up, Makeovers.
My career began in a boutique makeup studio in Salt Lake City, called Bel Viso. Two progressive women developing a natural skincare line and a fabulous Professional Makeup Artist, (with whom I would apprentice) gave me the opportunity at 19 years old to join their team.
Bel Viso opened a studio in Southern California, and I was given the chance to transfer and become the Primary Makeup Artist at that location. While working at that studio, I was applying makeup on a client who turned out to be a hiring manager for “Little House on the Prairie” and she liked my work enough to offer me a job as a makeup artist for that production. I gave it a lot of consideration, but I really felt the need to return to Salt Lake and finish my degree in Fashion and Marketing at the University of Utah.
While attending the U of U, I was still freelancing as a makeup artist on the side. It was important to me to keep my foot in that door, I knew there were bigger things in store for me in the beauty industry. I found it to be a creative outlet and extremely fulfilling to help build a woman’s confidence.
At my studio in Westlake Village, CA, I have always enjoyed complimenting my skincare business with a fun makeup station where I can add a few enhancements after a facial. I will now be offering that service in Park City, Utah.
I consider mineral foundation, concealer and powder an extension of your skincare routine. Mineral makeup won’t clog pores and it will help protect and maintain a healthy and youthful complexion. I prepare the face as I would prepare a canvas for a painting. The prep work makes all the difference in a successful end result. A clean and well hydrated face comes before any makeup.
After color matching your skin with the perfect shade and formula of foundation I will apply just enough and never too much. Blending is the key to a successful application. I love the Beauty Blender Sponge to achieve perfection. Good brushes are important too. I use a concealer to spot treat any imperfections and to brighten up areas on the face. I keep a translucent rice powder on hand for setting the makeup upon completion.
Choosing the perfect color palette for each and every client is so much fun. After determining the right colors, the real fun begins as eyes brighten, cheeks pop and lips become luscious. Strip lashes can be added for that extra pop for a special occasion.
Natural enhancements are my specialty, but I can add dramatic touches as needed for special events.
The real joy comes in seeing a woman come alive with confidence when she sees the difference created by even the smallest amount of makeup. I’m looking forward to boosting confidence and making faces even a little more beautiful this holiday season.
