New Aesthetician in Park City
In 2005 I finally made the decision to become an Aesthetician. I was 47 years old and had already graduated from the University of Utah, married, had a child, and started a couple of businesses. I had always wanted to work on skin.
When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with fashion magazines. I would thumb through the pages of Glamour and Seventeen but instead of looking at clothes, I was always examining the models skin and makeup.
I fell into a part-time job as a Makeup Artist at 19 and immediately fell in love. I loved mixing color and applying natural makeup. It was such a thrill to have someone come to my chair and watching their confidence expand with every stroke of my sponge or brush.
As rewarding as being a Makeup Artist was, I knew that there was something more that I wanted to offer and that was a healthy and beautiful complexion on which to apply it. I viewed makeup as a sort of band-aid to help cover less than perfect skin. I wanted to do more than cover, I wanted to restore skin making it so heathy and beautiful that makeup would become an option not a necessity.
Fast forward many years and life experiences, I was finally given an opportunity to realize the career that had always been in the back of my mind, Esthetics.
At 47 years of age, I signed up to go to school to become an Aesthetician and I had a solid goal and a plan in mind. I wanted to become an anti-aging specialist, helping women my own age turn back the hands of time. I knew that I wanted to open my own studio in order to have the flexibility to spend as much time as needed to get the results clients were looking for. I wanted to be able to customize every treatment and most of all I wanted to develop lasting relationships with my clients so they would always feel comfortable and look forward to coming to my studio.
I opened a beautiful studio in Westlake Village, California in 2005 and almost immediately became busy seeing clients. Those years flew by because of my passion for treating skin but in 2020 a world pandemic stopped everyone, including me in our tracks. I had to close my studio and then I waited. While I was waiting, I decided to begin looking into the possibility of moving back to my home State of Utah and opening a studio there. Park City seemed like the logical location and so my plan began to move forward.
Last year I moved to Park City and put the wheels into motion. I found the perfect location and space and went to work creating a lovely little studio where I can begin seeing clients.
Life is everchanging. I didn’t expect to close a successful skincare business in California, to start from scratch in Utah, but that’s what I did and I’m excited to see where this new adventure takes me. Remember that famous line from Field of Dreams, “Build it and they will come?” Well, I have built it and I can’t wait for you to come and let me take care of your skin and maybe even your spirit.
XO, Kris
